Leah Purcell wins Best Actress at AACTAs

Nominated for writing, directing and producing what has been described as a ‘fierce Indigenous western’ The Drover’s Wife The Legend Of Molly Johnson, the formidable Leah Purcell has won Best Actress in a film category at this years AACTA awards. The Drover’s Wife is a hauntingly powerful story as well as a visceral commentary on Australian Aboriginal history, and as the first Indigenous woman to write, direct and star in her own feature film, this award could not be more deserving.
